Radford University
MBA Student Association
Article I. Name of Organization

The name of
this organization shall be M.B.A. Student
Association at Radford University
Article II.
Purpose
The purpose of
this organization is to:
-
Solidify
members of the Radford University Masters of
Business Administration (M.B.A.) program
-
Function as an
informational base for the MBA program
-
Foster and
enhance an awareness of current business
trends
-
Encourage the
personal and professional development of all
M.B.A. students and M.B.A. alumni of Radford
University

Article III.
Membership
Section 1:
General Requirements
Membership is
open to all M.B.A. students at Radford
University. This organization will not
discriminate on the basis of sex or gender,
race, creed, nationality, sexual orientation,
disability, age, veteran or marital status, nor
religious or political affiliation. Membership
is available to all M.B.A. students regardless
of status, be it full-time or part-time, or
provisional graduate student.
Section 2:
Categories of Membership
Voting membership
of this organization shall consist of:

Matriculated
students, who are
-
Current on
their dues payments
-
Currently
enrolled in the M.B.A. program
2. Faculty and
staff of Radford University
The majority of
the voting members must be students.
Non-voting members shall consist of:
-
All M.B.A.
students not meeting the criteria for a
voting membership
-
Inactive
members - persons who have been but no
longer are, voting members of the
organization
-
Alumni of the
Radford University M.B.A. program
Section 3:
Qualification and Privileges
Active membership
carries voting privileges. Privileges include
participation in activities and programs
sponsored by the organization.
Voting qualifications are as follows:
-
Members must
be currently enrolled for a minimum of one
graduate credit at Radford University
-
Members must
maintain a minimum GPA of 3.0
-
Members must
have paid their dues to the local
organization
Non-voting
members have only passive participation (i.e.
they cannot be recognized to make a motion or
hold the floor at a meeting). Non-voting members
will have eligibility for participation as a
voting member for organizational functions.
Section 4:
Selection process
New members can
be selected each semester based on the following
criteria:

Current
student of Radford University
-
Full-time or
part-time M.B.A. student
-
Dues to the
local organization must be paid
Section 5:
Removal process
Members of the
Masters of Business Administration Organization
may be removed from chapter membership only for
just cause by a vote of 3/4th of the entire
voting membership. Any such removal must be
approved by the chapter Advisor.

Article IV.
Meetings
Section 1:
Meetings will be
held once a week during the academic year and
special meetings may be called if necessary.
Section 2:
Business will be
conducted according to Robert’s Rules of Order,
Newly Revised. In
case of voting tie, the President will cast the
deciding vote.
Section 3.
A quorum shall be
defined as twenty percent of the total voting
membership.
Section 4:
A simple
majority, (50%, plus one) rules.

Article V. Dues
Section 1:
Dues shall be
paid at any time during the semester. Dues are
to be established by the executive officers and
confirmed by a two-thirds vote of a regular
meeting. Dues can be prorated on a semester
basis.
Section 2:
Dues shall be
collected by the Treasurer at any time during
the semester following the election of officers.
The President, Treasurer and Advisor may review
dues collection at any time.

Article VI.
Officers
Section 1: The
Masters of Business Administration Student
Organization officers shall be:

President

of Programming

of Membership

of Public Relations

Vice President
of Alumni Affairs

Treasurer

Secretary, and
-
Advisor.
Section 2:
The
qualifications for holding office are to be a
good standing voting member of this
organization. Full-time or part-time M.B.A.
students may serve as officers.
Section 3: Duties
of the officers are as follows:
President
Specific duties include:
-
Preside over
all meetings and activities
-
Coordinate and
communicate with all members of the
Executive Council and the faculty advisor
-
Co-sign all
checks with the faculty advisor
Vice President of
Programming:
Specific duties include:
-
Preside over
all meetings at which the president is not
present
-
Serve as the
co-liaison, along with the VP of Public
Relations, to other student organizations
-
Maintain
contact with the faculty advisor
-
Coordinate
guest speaker appearances
-
In the event
that the president is unable to complete a
term of office, to take over the position
for the remainder of the term and to make
any necessary appointment to fill vacated
offices.
Vice President of
Membership:
Specific duties
include:
-
Preside over
meetings at which the president and the VP
of Programming are absent
-
Maintain and
distribute a current roster of membership
-
Coordinate the
collection of dues with the treasurer
Vice President of
Public Relations
Specific duties
include:
-
Coordinates
MBA events
-
Coordinates
fundraising events
-
Maintains
relationships with local employers
Vice President of
Alumni Affairs/Relations
Specific duties
include:
-
Select a gift
for guest speakers and coordinate
refreshments for meetings and events
-
Serve as the
co-liaison, with the VP of Programming, to
other student organizations on campus
-
Plan and
arrange social functions for the
organization
Treasurer
Specific duties
include:
-
Establish and
maintain bank account(s) for the
organization
-
Report the
condition of accounts at all regular
meetings, including all relevant expenses
-
Monitor
account activity, and maintain a file of
receipts for all expenditures
-
Safeguard all
bank transactions to insure that all
withdrawals are countersigned by the
president and the faculty advisor
-
Work with all
VP’s on budgets and expenses including the
funds generated by dues and from other
sources
Secretary
Specific duties include:
-
Responsible
for maintaining accurate minutes of all
meetings
-
Responsible
for correspondence to all members and MBA
students
Section 4:
A majority vote
of the active membership will determine the
election of officers.
The nomination of officers will occur at the
first meeting of the academic year, presided by
the returning officers or the faculty advisor.
The regular election of officers will be held at
the second meeting of the academic year. Term of
office shall expire at the end of the academic
year.
Section 5:
The removal of
any officer of this organization will require a
motion from the floor, and a two-thirds vote of
all voting members present at the following
meeting.
In case of
resignation or dismissal, the outgoing officer
must notify the Executive Board, which consists
of the officers and advisor(s). The unoccupied
position will be filled by appointment by the
Executive Board unless the unfinished term of
the officer is longer than a month before the
expiration of the term, in which case an
election will be held to fill the vacancy for
the remainder of the term.

Article VII.
Advisor(s)
Section 1:
Current members
of the Radford University M.B.A. faculty will be
eligible to be the
campus chapter advisor(s).
Section 2:
The advisor’s
responsibilities shall include: retaining copies
of all financial reports,
minutes, the organization’s constitution, and
all other relevant information to facilitate the
change of officers from year to year. The
advisor will be a co-signature along with the
president and treasurer on all banking accounts
of the organization and must co-sign all checks.
The advisor shall work closely with the
organization in coordinating activities to
ensure that they are conducted in compliance
with Radford University’s policies and the laws
of the United States, the Commonwealth of
Virginia, and the City of Radford.
Section 3:
The advisor(s)
will be recommended by the Executive Board and
elected by a majority vote of the active
membership. The purpose of the advisor(s) is to
give members guidance in policies and procedures
concerning this organization.
Section 4:
The advisor(s)
will be removed for just cause at the
recommendation of the Executive
Board and removed by a majority vote of the
active membership.

Article
VIII. Responsibilities
This organization
will adhere to Radford University’s policies,
the Constitution and the laws of the United
States of America, the Commonwealth of Virginia,
and the City of Radford.
Article IX.
Amendments
Section 1:
Proposed
amendments to this constitution must be
presented in writing at a regular meeting by a
voting member. Once seconded, the motion will be
held over to the next regular meeting and will
require a two-thirds vote of those present to be
accepted.
Section 2:
Any revision of
the constitution accepted by the voting body
shall be sent to the Associate Director for
Student Activities for review and/or approval,
before being accepted as an amendment.
